A Message from the SCALA President:
April 2, 2008
Dear Colleagues-
Happy Spring! It marks the promise of warmer
weather, spring breaks and lots of preparation for art shows to come. Let this
serve as a reminder for all the SCALA Happenings for the month of
April:

General Meeting:
There isn’t a General Meeting this month. Our next meeting is Thursday, May 8
at Painters from 5-6PM (preceding the SCALA Scholar Artist Dinner
on that evening). This meeting is open to ALL.

Beyond Looking
Workshop, April 17 with Patricia Lannes at the ES
BOCES
Center in Bellport
(4PM-7PM). This workshop was rescheduled from its original February
date.

Connecting
Curriculum & Diversity
Workshop has been
rescheduled from the original date to Tuesday, April 29 at the
Commack
Middle School (4PM-7PM).

|
Student Art
Show Seminar
continues April 3 (4PM-8PM) and April 6 (1PM-4PM) at the Gallery on the Hill
in Farmingville.
|
|
Last day for
art supply donations,
March 24 at the
Commack
Middle School in room
A14. Donations will be taken right up to that date.

|
The Reception
for the All County Senior Exhibit
is Sunday, 11:30-3:30 pm
April 6,2008, 1:00 pm awards presentation. Would love to see
you there. |

A last note:
Through your generosity,
22 boxes of donated art supplies arrived at the
Louisiana Children’s Museum last
Thursday to a
bare
storage room. This
week, supplies will arrive to them from
Long Island Art Supplies, paid for from money
that some of you donated. You can log onto our website for specific info about
the target schools in
Louisiana that will be serviced by
your good will. Many thanks for all those who have already organized and given.
THERE IS MORE THAT CAN BE DONE!!! We will extend the opportunity to give more
till the end of the school year. (Please note: no paints, glues or aerosol
sprays). The devastation is immense and our help is so appreciated. I will
post pictures on our site as soon as I can.
